My Journey: From Fashion Designer to Floral Artist

My Journey: From Fashion Designer to Floral Artist

If you’d told me thirteen years ago that I’d trade the world of trend forecasts and fabric swatches for armfuls of dried flowers and silk ribbon, I’m not sure I would have believed you! Yet here I am, still handcrafting every Luna and Wild piece, and loving every wild, creative minute of it.

Where it all began...

My creative path began at the University of the West of England, where I studied fashion design.  After graduating, I landed an internship at Rare London in Liverpool - a fast-paced brand with physical concessions in Topshop and collections on ASOS, New Look, and a number of other online retailers.  Over three and a half years, I worked my way up from intern to senior fashion designer.

Bohemian styling has always been at the heart of who I am, and it showed in how I dressed for work.  I was known around the office for wearing flowers in my hair and one day, a colleague noticed my floral hairpieces and asked if I could make a flower crown for her daughter’s first Holy Communion.  I’d never made anything like it before, but I was always up for a creative challenge.  I gave it a go and she was so delighted with the result that it sparked an idea.  Maybe there was a place for my bohemian-inspired florals beyond my own wardrobe.

Encouraged by my first commission, I opened a small online shop on ASOS Marketplace.  Orders trickled in at first, but as I created more designs and shared them online, things began to grow.  For a few years, I balanced my floral side-hustle with my full-time role in fashion design, eventually moving to Manchester to work for Forever Unique, a brand specialising in occasion wear dresses.

Taking the Leap

As Luna and Wild gained momentum, I started to dream bigger.  I applied to Not On The High Street as a partner and was accepted, I built my own (very basic!) website, and poured every spare moment into growing my brand.  Eventually, the time felt right to leave the fashion industry and dedicate myself fully to Luna and Wild.

Where I Am Now

After more than thirteen years, I’m still running Luna and Wild, handcrafting flower crowns, bouquets, and accessories for modern bohemian brides across the UK and overseas.  My journey has been shaped by a love for creativity, a passion for sustainability, and a belief that beautiful things should tell a story and last long after the wedding day.
