I've spent over a decade helping brides plan their flowers. I still can't believe I got it so wrong at my own wedding.
I chose fresh flowers, because at the time dried and preserved varieties just weren't where they are now and the options were limited, so fresh it was.
What nobody tells you about fresh flowers on your actual wedding day is just how long your flowers are out of water, the ceremony, the photos, the drinks reception... Just slowly wilting.
By the afternoon, I could already see the browning edges and soft stems. I wanted to have them preserved after, but by the end of the day they were already too far gone.
Even if they had survived the day, preservation isn't cheap. Freeze-drying, resin, pressing are all beautiful options, but they can cost hundreds on top of everything else.
So my advise what I'd tell every bride planning her flowers right now -
Choose dried and preserved from the start. They look incredible on the day, they don't wilt, they don't brown and at the end of the night, they're still exactly as you chose them at no extra cost, just flowers you can actually keep.
